Virtual Position - Multidisciplinary Critical Minerals & Metals Technical Specialists — Consulting/Project-Based
This is a remote, contingent, project-based consulting opportunity. Candidates may reside anywhere in the United States but must satisfy the stated U.S. citizenship or lawful-permanent-resident eligibility requirement and be willing to travel internationally when an assignment requires it
Axyde Analytics is assembling a multidisciplinary expert team to support anticipated U.S. government-funded project-scoping assignments involving critical minerals, mining, processing, refining, infrastructure, supply chains and international project development.
We are seeking senior professionals who can evaluate complex prospective projects and convert incomplete technical, commercial and country information into decision-grade findings, defensible recommendations and executable scopes of work.
This posting may be used to select multiple specialists. Applicants should identify their strongest area of expertise.
Potential areas of specialization include:
- Economic geology, resource evaluation, exploration and mine planning
- Mineral processing, metallurgy, beneficiation, refining and scale-up
- Tailings, geotechnical engineering, water, closure and mine safety
- Infrastructure, power, logistics, ports and industrial facilities
- Environmental and social assessment, permitting, remediation and resilience
- Project finance, financial modeling, capital structure and bankability
- Commodity markets, pricing, offtake and international supply chains
- Critical-minerals policy, trade, export development and country risk
- Process safety, hazardous materials, nuclear materials and radiological risk
- International stakeholder engagement and field-assignment leadership
Responsibilities. Depending on the assignment and specialty, selected experts may:
- Evaluate prospective mining, processing, refining, recycling or supply-chain projects.
- Review technical studies, resource information, process flowsheets, testwork, capital and operating assumptions, schedules and implementation risks.
- Assess technical feasibility, commercial viability, financing readiness, environmental and social considerations, and potential opportunities for U.S. industry.
- Identify missing evidence, critical assumptions, decision thresholds and conditions for project advancement.
- Develop or review cash-flow, NPV, IRR, sensitivity, market, infrastructure or implementation analyses.
- Prepare concise concept assessments, project-scoping reports, terms of reference, budgets, schedules and recommendations.
- Participate in independent technical review and challenge high-consequence findings.
- Conduct interviews, stakeholder meetings, site visits and international fieldwork when authorized.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team using common evidence, assumptions, quality-control and document-release procedures.
Minimum qualifications
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly relevant technical, commercial, financial, environmental, infrastructure or international-development field.
- Demonstrated subject-matter expertise supported by specific projects, decisions and professional deliverables.
- Experience preparing or reviewing feasibility studies, due-diligence assessments, technical reports, investment analyses, project scopes, engineering studies or comparable decision-grade products.
- Ability to explain the evidence supporting a conclusion, distinguish verified facts from assumptions and identify what additional diligence is required.
- Strong written and spoken English and the ability to contribute to polished client-facing reports.
- Ability to work effectively with specialists from other disciplines.
- Availability to begin participating in assignments within approximately 30 days.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally when an assignment requires it.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent-resident status.
- No employment, contractual, confidentiality or conflict-of-interest restriction that would prevent participation.
Preferred qualifications
- Advanced degree, professional engineering/geology credential, CFA, CPA, PMP or comparable relevant certification.
- Direct experience with critical minerals, battery materials, industrial minerals or mineral-dependent manufacturing.
- Experience in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, South Asia or Southeast Asia.
- Relevant language capability and demonstrated success working across cultures.
- Experience supporting government agencies, development-finance institutions, investors, lenders, mining companies, engineering firms or international project sponsors.
- Ability to lead a multidisciplinary assignment or serve as an independent reviewer.
Engagement structure and compensation. These are contingent opportunities subject to government contract award, specific assignment requirements, eligibility, availability, role alignment and execution of appropriate engagement documentation. No employment, minimum workload or specific assignment is guaranteed.
Anticipated compensation is generally $150–$300 per hour, or a negotiated fixed price for a defined work package, depending on specialty, experience, assignment complexity, travel and responsibilities. $300 per hour is the anticipated maximum.
