Contingent opportunity: Axyde Analytics is building a proposed team for ERDC Fellowship Program Administration and Research Support. This is advance recruiting, not an awarded or funded position. Hiring, hours, start date and final duties depend on contract award, funding, task orders and mutually agreed terms. Fractional support may be appropriate; no hours are guaranteed.

Work arrangement: Remote administrative work is proposed, with travel and onsite support as required. Midlothian, Virginia is Axyde's administrative base, not an established ERDC duty station. Fully remote work is not guaranteed.

Independent Finance and Compliance Reviewer

Provide fractional independent financial review for a proposed research fellowship program. This control role is distinct from routine payment preparation.

Responsibilities

• Review authorized stipend and travel payment batches, recipient changes, funding limits and supporting records before release by the designated approver.
• Independently review bank/ledger reconciliations, task-order cost allocation, commitments, invoice support and exceptions.
• Design segregation of duties, audit trails, access controls, periodic sampling and corrective-action tracking.
• Assess cash forecasts and reimbursement exposure; alert leadership before obligations exceed available resources.
• Support contract-specific financial compliance and audit readiness without assuming every fellowship payment is payroll or a grant.

What we seek

• Experience independently reviewing research-program, participant-payment or federal-contract financial controls.
• Strong reconciliation, internal-control, cost-allocation and audit-support skills.
• Ability to document findings and maintain independence from transactions being reviewed.

Preferred: CPA or comparable relevant qualification, fellowship/grants finance experience and government contractor accounting. CPA is preferred, not an invented Government requirement. Final structure may be part-time employment or a separately agreed professional-services engagement.
