U.S. Quantitative Economist, Copper Jobs and Wages
Axyde Analytics, LLC is recruiting proposed project personnel for a contingent U.S. Department of Labor initiative connecting stronger labor conditions and operating evidence in Chile’s copper supply chain with measurable benefits for American employment, wages and industrial resilience. This specialist is not presently designated as key personnel. The position is contingent upon award, final agreement and required due diligence.
Location and commitment
United States; remote, with periodic travel. Anticipated 36-month period and approximately 20–25 percent level of effort, concentrated around design, baseline, modeling, validation and reporting deliverables.
Responsibilities
Design and execute the project’s quantitative U.S.-benefit analysis. Build transparent input-output or equivalent employment-impact models; estimate direct, indirect and induced U.S. jobs and wages; define counterfactuals and attribution boundaries; conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses; document datasets, assumptions and limitations; maintain reproducible code; distinguish annual jobs from job-years and wages from labor income; prevent import leakage and double counting; and coordinate with the Chile-based MEL Officer so field evidence supports defensible U.S. benefit estimates. Identify required IMPLAN, BEA RIMS II or equivalent data and licensing; approved project-specific access may be funded after award.
Must-have qualifications
- Graduate degree in economics, statistics, public policy or a closely related quantitative field.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of IMPLAN, BEA RIMS II or an equivalent input-output or employment-impact framework.
- Experience estimating direct, indirect and induced employment and wage effects.
- Experience with counterfactual design, attribution and sensitivity analysis.
- Ability to deliver reproducible analysis in Stata, R or Python.
- Experience with U.S. industry, trade, manufacturing, mining or supply-chain datasets.
- Legal authorization for the proposed U.S. place and form of work without Axyde sponsorship.
- Availability for approximately 20–25 percent LOE.
Copper, critical-minerals or metals-sector experience is strongly preferred.
Compensation
Anticipated USD 55–120 per hour, subject to final scope, documented market reasonableness, negotiations and award approval. Required project-specific data or software licensing will be budgeted separately when approved. No employment or payment is promised before award and written agreement.
Application
Complete the role-specific FOA-ILAB-26-30 application below and provide a current résumé and nonproprietary work sample or methodology excerpt. Candidates selected for proposal use must promptly provide written authorization for Axyde to use their name and résumé specifically for this proposal; disclose current IMPLAN/RIMS/equivalent access and expected tool costs; confirm rate, availability, earliest post-award start, current commitments, employer approval if applicable, IP restrictions and conflicts; and supply requested materials within 24–48 hours. Proposal use creates no pre-award compensation, employment guarantee or post-award obligation absent a written agreement.
